Building a Strong and Positive Community

People choose to live, work and invest in vibrant communities where fresh ideas are appreciated, diversity is celebrated, and unique activities are abundant. The community building programs offered through this initiative “make it happen” in South Wood County and the Town of Rome.

Community Progress Rallies

Provocative Community Progress Rallies will be held in each community throughout the region to promote new ideas and stimulate action. Initial topics:

• Creating a “Can Do” community

• Building strong and inclusive local leadership

• Developing successful events and projects for your community

Leadership Programs

An enhanced series of courses, created to develop skilled and knowledgeable leaders throughout the region. Leaders emerging from these programs will help to shape the future of our community. Advanced leadership training will also be offered.

Annual Progress Celebration

This is the showcase event of the Community Progress Initiative. Every community member is encouraged to attend these celebratory conferences to share collective vision, hear outcomes from emerging leaders, and commit to new progress opportunities.

“New Ideas!” Speaker Series

A rotation of the brightest minds will inspire “New Ideas!” with topics such as “Social Capital & Community Involvement –We’re all Responsible”, “Generation X’s Outside the Box Thinking” and more.

Researching Best Practices & Global Opportunities

Exposure to new ideas can often produce powerful local results. By visiting areas that have applied innovative thinking and leadership, the best ideas and successes can be brought back and applied in our own community.

Community Endowment Building

With a concentration on building permanent endowed assets, this component will build resources for future sustainability of community development efforts, thereby bettering the quality of life in South Wood County and the Town of Rome.
